1963 Epiphone "Wilshire" 12-/6-string Conversion

Description

I was in the audience back in 1987 when the previous owner, Peter Driessen, played this guitar with his band ‘Blues Express’ in Meckenheim (see Video 6). In 2019 – (who, incidentally, is also responsible for the intricate fretwork on the headstock) – I inherited this beautiful instrument. Now, one could quite rightly say that this is the ugliest guitar in my collection – but it squeaks and whistles so wonderfully that it’s a real delight! It’s as light as a feather, of course; and what’s more, it still has that lovely, sturdy neck with a 43mm nut width (changed to 40mm from mid-1965). The guitar previously belonged to the Bonn-based guitarist Harry Titlbach, who used it as early as 1970 during recording sessions with the Krautrock band ‘Hairy Chapter’ (back then it was still a 12-string...)
